Oakbrook Terrace Fire Protection District responded to 271 calls in 2018 - 99.3 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Oakbrook Terrace included 29 fires - 18 structure fires, three vehicle fires and eight other fires.

In all, the department saw $92,500 in fire loss - or about $3,190 per fire.

The department also received 242 false calls, including three malicious calls and 239 other false calls.

The Oakbrook Terrace Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $2,399,777 in 2018.

The Oakbrook Terrace Fire Protection District, which has four active employees and four retired or inactive employees, was $86,114 in debt as of May 2017, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $9,568 for every fire in 2017.
