City of Naperville issued the following announcement on Aug. 24.

The public is invited to attend either a virtual meeting or an outdoor, in-person meeting about potential improvements to 248th Avenue. Three alternatives for the project will be presented based on feedback received at an initial public information meeting held in November 2019. Maps and exhibits will be available to view, and attendees will be able to provide feedback, share concerns and ask questions. Representatives from the City of Naperville and the project consultant will discuss the project and answer questions on an individual basis. Content will be the same for both the virtual and in-person meetings.

The City has identified the need to improve the portion of 248th Avenue that runs from 95th Street to 103rd Street. The goal of this project is to create a better driving experience for motorists, as well as better recreational experiences for bicyclists and pedestrians. Construction is tentatively expected to begin in May 2023 and last for approximately 12 months.

The virtual public meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 31, using Zoom technology. Registration to participate in the virtual meeting is required by visiting https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_sstFbgoMR_mIobyQqmyanQ.

The in-person, outdoor public meeting is scheduled from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10, at the Commissioners Park Pavilion, 3704 111th St. In case of rain, the meeting will be held at the same time and location on Sept. 17. This meeting will be conducted in an informal, open house format. Following guidelines set by the Restore Illinois plan, attendance will be limited to 25 people at one time, including City staff and consultant representatives. A line may form to accommodate those who are waiting. All attendees must wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Any individual with a disability requesting a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in a public meeting should contact the Communications Department at least 48 hours in advance of the scheduled meeting. The Communications Department can be reached via telephone at (630) 420-6707 or (630) 305-5205 (TDD) or via email at info@naperville.il.us. Every effort will be made to allow for meeting participation.

Please visit the project website at https://www.naperville.il.us/248th-avenue/ for news and updates. Those who have questions, or who cannot attend the meeting and would like to provide feedback in advance are invited to contact Project Engineer Ray Fano at (630) 305-5534 or fanor@naperville.il.us.
