Village of Bensenville Board of Fire and Police Commissioners met June 19.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

1. PROOF OF POSTING

This meeting was duly posted according to State Law.

2. CALL TO ORDER

This meeting was called to order by Commissioner Letizia at 5:00 p.m.

3. ROLL CALL

Upon roll call by the Recording Secretary, the following were:

PRESENT: Commissioner; Letizia

ABSENT: None

PRESENT BY TX: Commissioners Cucci; Pavone and Director Giammarese

ALSO PRESENT:

QUORUM PRESENT

4. APPROVAL OF MEETING MINUTES

The approval of the Regular Meeting Minutes from April 20, 2019.

AYES: Commissioners Letzia & Cucci

NAYS: None

ABSTAIN: None

MOTION DECLARED CARRIED

Commissioners Pavone and Letizia acknowledged the cancellation of the Regular Meeting of May 15, 2019 due to Lack of Quorum.

5. CORRESPONDENCE

The Commissioners reviewed the correspondence in their packets to include:

Letter from Conrad Polygraph stating that the American Polygraph Association had changed the number of pre-employment questions to be asked from ten to eight. Commissioner Pavone would like to find out if this relates to corporate employers as opposed to law enforcement and why the new guidelines were put into place. Recording Secretary Sue Osicek will contact Conrad Polygraph for more information.

6. NEW BUSINESS

18-Month Probation: Officer Timothy Czesak: Hired 1/2/19 (18 months 7/2/19).

Director Giammarese stated that Officer Czesak is doing well and stated that on July 2, 2019 Officer Czesak will complete his 18 month Probation.

Personnel Order: P-19-06: Promotion to Sergeant: Det. Paul Alcozer: Badge #55 (Swearing In Ceremony on July 8, 2019 at 7:00 p.m.). The Commissioners extended congratulations to Det. Paul Alcozer on his promotion to Sergeant.

Per. Order: P-19-07: Appointment of Probationary Ofc. Ljijana Clampit: Badge #122

Per. Order: P-19-08: Appointment of Probationary Officer Patrick McGinn: Badge #146

The Commissioners were happy to see the first two candidates on the Eligibility List for Police Officer accepted the Conditional Offers of Employment and wished them well.

7. UNFINISHED BUSINESS

The New Officer Candidate Testing has been completed. The Eligibility List was posted on May 22, 2019. The first two candidates on the list accepted the Conditional Offer of Employment. Their first day at the Department was today, June 19, 2019 and the Police Academy begins Monday, June 24, 2019. The Graduation will be September 27, 2019.

The Department still has a shortage of three officers. The Village Board has not yet given approval to hire the replacements. Director Giammarese is hoping that approval will come soon and would like to have three candidates hired by September.

On a Motion by Commissioner Letizia, seconded by Commissioner Cucci, the Commission authorized the Recording Secretary to offer a Conditional Officer of Employment to the next three available candidates from the Eligibility List for Police Officer when approved by the Village Board.

NAYS: None

ABSTAIN: None

MOTION DECLARED CARRIED

Director Giammarese also informed the Commissioners that the Officer involved shooting case has been completed and the States Attorney has cleared the three officers involved and they have be returned to full duty. He stated that Bob Berlin was releasing a Press Release today and that the Bloomingdale Police Department put a link on the Police Department’s Facebook page that would connect to the Village of Bloomingdale’s Website where the 911 call and other information would be available.

8. NEXT MEETING DATE

The next regularly scheduled Board of Fire and Police Commission meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at 5:00 p.m.

9. ADJOURNMENT

On a Motion by Commissioner Letizia, seconded by Commissioner Pavone, the Regular Meeting of June 19, 2019 was adjourned at 5:11 p.m.
