NAPERVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT: Residents Encouraged to Attend Burglary Prevention Forums
Naperville Police Department issued the following announcement on March 21.
The Naperville Police Department is offering residents two opportunities this month to learn first-hand from police department staff how to safeguard their possessions from would-be burglars. Residents who attend either of two public forums scheduled in March can expect to learn a number of burglary prevention tips and will have the opportunity to win a free video doorbell. One will be given away at each forum.
“Several video doorbells were donated to the police department, and we’re eager to get them out into the community to help residents further safeguard their homes. In fact, we’ve already handed out two at other community meetings we’ve attended,” said Police Chief Robert Marshall. “If you’re serious about making your home, your neighborhood and your community safer, I encourage you to attend one of these forums, learn about crimes happening here in Naperville and educate yourself on how to deter similar crimes in the future.”
Both forums will be held on Tuesday, March 26. The first forum will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. at the 95th Street Library, 3015 Cedar Glade Dr. The second will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in Council Chambers at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St.
The winners of the video doorbells will be responsible for installing and maintaining the doorbells and all fees associated.
The forums are part of Naperville Police Department’s “A Safer Naper” campaign, which features a new safety theme each month to educate residents on how to prevent crime and enhance their overall safety. The campaign for March centers around burglary prevention and calls upon residents to take necessary steps to reduce the likelihood of becoming targets.
