CITY OF NAPERVILLE: Municipal Election Petitions for Candidacy Available Tuesday, August 21

City of Naperville issued the following announcement on Aug. 13.

Beginning Tuesday, August 21, 2018, petitions for candidacy for the 2019 Naperville municipal election are available in the City Clerk’s Office at the Naperville Municipal Center, 400 S. Eagle St. Petitions may begin being circulated for signature on Tuesday, August 28, 2018.

Up for election in 2019 are the four-year position of Mayor and four City Council positions. To qualify as a candidate, you must be a registered voter of the City of Naperville and have resided within the corporate limits of the City for at least one year. Petitions for nomination are filed with the City Clerk’s Office. The filing period will take place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, November 19, 2018, through Monday, November 26, 2018, excluding weekend days; the Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, November 22; and the day after Thanksgiving on Friday, November 23.

A Consolidated Primary Election will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2019, if more than four candidates file for any one office, or if there are more than 16 candidates for Council or four candidates for Mayor. The Consolidated Election will take place on Tuesday, April 2, 2019.
