How much has CCSD 89 overspent over the past 10 years?

Community Consolidated School District 89 accumulated $26.72 million in debt between fiscal years 2008 and 2017, according to a DuPage Policy Journal analysis of public schools data.

Spending and revenue data obtained for this analysis comes from the Illinois Local Education Agency Retrieval Network (ILEARN), which is part of the Illinois State Board of Education and collects data annually on school district financials.

Over the 10-year span, CCSD 89 reported 21.3 percent more revenue. At the same time, total spending went up 8.2 percent. The resulting deficit grew by 99.3 percent from 2008 to 2017.
