State Rep. Steve Andersson (R-Geneva) handed off a resolution on May 8 honoring his district's winning hockey team.
HR976 congratulates the Marmion Academy Cadets for their Varsity White Division win in the 2018 Illinois State High School Hockey Championship.
“The Marmion Academy Hockey Program was born out of a chance encounter between the program’s founder, Dan Heckle, and a young man at an ice rink in the 2013-14 wearing a Marmion T-shirt,” the bill text reads.

When Heckle found out that the school did not have their own hockey team, he decided to start one.
“They didn’t even exist three years ago,” Andersson said during House floor debate.
After Andersson named each player in the speaker’s gallery, he asked the House floor to give the group a warm Springfield welcome, which they did loudly.
