State Rep. David Olsen (R-Downers Grove) toured the Flexco manufacturing facility recently.

"Last week I had the opportunity to tour the Flexco manufacturing facility right here in the 81st District," Olsen said. "It is great to have these good-paying manufacturing jobs right here in our district."

Founded in 1907, Flexco is a privately held company. It has subsidiaries worldwide, where its products to enhance belt conveyor productivity are produced. Its products are distributed to more than 100 countries.

Flexco is headquartered in Downers Grove. It opened its manufacturing plant in 1971. The plant features 29,000 square feet in plant space and 3,000 square feet in office space. Flexco's produces conveyor belt products, from rollers to cleaners to maintenance tools.

Flexco's conveyor belt products are used in a variety of industries, including agriculture, coal mining, recycling and wastewater treatment.

Olsen was appointed to the District 81 House seat in August. He replaced Ron Sandack, who abruptly resigned.

Olsen's political experience centers around his position as a Downers Grove commissioner. He resigned from that position when he became a state representative. He is also on the College of DuPage board of trustees.

Olsen will face off in the November general election against Democratic candidate Greg Hose, who is also from Downers Grove.
