Bhavna Sharma-Lewis has joined four women of diverse backgrounds and professions to co-chair the Women for Lewis coalition, supporting Republican candidate Seth Lewis who is vying for the District 23 state Senate seat.
Last week the team announced its lineup of influential Illinois female figures to rally for Lewis. Co-chairs include Senate Republican leader Christine Radogno from Lemont; school principal Juliane Fredericks; service professional Zarah Gonzalez; business owner Aparna Shah; and marketer Judy Pinsel.
The team also includes state Rep. Patti Bellock (R-Hinsdale), state Sen. Karen McConnaughay (R-West Dundee) and 150 other women representing various industries throughout the 23rd District.
"I know that Seth cares more than anyone about turning our state around,” Sharma-Lewis, who brings two decades of experience in education, said. “I am so proud of Seth for standing up to the career politicians, and I am happy to announce that Seth Lewis is supported by strong, inspiring women across the 23rd District.”
Co-chair Fredericks of Wood Dale, a single mother and special education director, voiced the group’s trust in Lewis, saying she knows he will put state and community needs ahead of special interest groups.
“We need independent leadership in the 23rd District, not someone who remains silent when party bosses expect it,” she said.
Sharma-Lewis said Lewis also understands that for Illinois to thrive, Springfield must put children, small businesses and communities first.
“I believe with Seth's leadership, diplomacy and problem-solving skills Illinois can be a state where our children and grandchildren want to live and raise their own families," she said.
