The City of Aurora Finance Committee recently met to consider an agreement between the City of Aurora, the Aurora Public Library and Support Companies, LLC, in which Support Companies would purchase and revamp the old library building located at 1 E. Benton St. in downtown Aurora.

Invest Aurora recently sought proposals to re-purpose the 42,000-square-foot former library building. The proposal from Support Companies scored a high rating from the City of Aurora, Invest Aurora and the library board.

"We are very pleased with the proposal of Support Companies, LLC,” Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner said. “Not only will the move bring more than 100 jobs to historic downtown Aurora, it will also place the former library on the tax rolls for the first time ever.”

Support Companies provides support services for cutting-edge technologies, and their clients include counties, banks, hotels and corporate users. The company has been in operation for over 20 years and currently employs over 100 full-time permanent employees, a large majority of which are Aurora residents.

"Our work environment is built to engage and support our workforce," Ron Janusz, president of Support Companies, said.  "We invest heavily in people and the community. Downtown Aurora is buzzing with new energy, and we want to be a part of that. This is an ideal location for our continued growth and development."

Under the proposed deal, Support would buy the building for $10, and the property would be put on the city’s tax rolls for the first time ever. The building would house Support's contact center, product and training labs, server and IT operations, and administrative offices.

As part of the agreement, the company would donate $50,000 per year to the Aurora Public Library Foundation for at least the next five years.

“Aurora continues to grow into a hub for arts, entertainment and culture,” Weisner said. “With the recent moves of the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, ByteGrid and now Support Companies, LLC, Aurora is also becoming an emerging center for technology as well."
