The Suburban O’Hare Commission (SOC) recently presented the results of a study, conducted by JDA Aviation Technology Solutions, seeking technical recommendations on how to reduce noise pollution coming from O’Hare International Airport (ORD) in response to concerns from surrounding residents and businesses.

The overall goal of the study was to work with the Chicago Department of Aviation to develop recommendations to cut down on noise and more evenly distribute air traffic throughout the region without impacting operations or safety at O’Hare.

Highlights of the recommendations include plans to reduce nighttime aircraft noise by beefing up the Fly Quiet program and the use of quieter engines in aircraft.

The entire list of 20 recommendations can be reviewed at www.elkgrove.com/residents/o-hare-noise/noise-reduction-recommendations.
