Crack sealing on West Chicago roads is set to begin after Oct. 19, with work scheduled for completion by Nov. 27.
The work involves sawcutting, or routing, primary cracks in the pavement; and sealing the cracks on various city streets. The project is meant to protect the street surface and extend the pavement life expectancy.
Sealing will take place in Prince Crossing Farms, Hampton Hills, Kresswood Trails, Whispering Oaks and the
Forest Trails Subdivision.
Construction activities are scheduled between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Saturday at all project locations with the exception of Main Street, where all activities will take place between 5 and 7:30 a.m. Monday through Friday.
Residents should avoid leaving cars in the way of the contractor’s equipment or parking on the street while the work is being performed. The impacted roads can be driven over shortly after sealing operations; and the material should be completely cured within 24 to 48 hours, depending on weather conditions.
Residents also should close all windows to prevent airborne dust from the construction from entering their homes or vehicles during the project.
