Warrenville officials have responded to residents' requests for more economic development by proposing the Settler’s Pointe Subdivision.
The plan relies on input from the community, trends in the real estate market and economic feasibility. A public hearing on the Settler’s Pointe Subdivision is scheduled for 7 p.m. tomorrow at city hall.
The proposed Settler’s Pointe development mirrors the vision expressed by citizens in 2007, when over 100 residents participated in the Old Town/Civic Center Subarea planning process. Also, the plan will use the city's economic development experts to determine economic development plans and visions.
The plan strives to incorporate the development into Warrenville by embracing the public space and local events offered.
The developers also designed the front of homes and offices that face public spaces, including Bob Walters Commons, the Prairie Path, the library, the recreation center and city hall. The developers further intend to provide a welcome to drivers coming from Butterfield Road with a monument or sculpture at the north end of the Settler’s Pointe community.
The development will generate future tax revenue for the city, School District 200, and the Warrenville Park, Library, and Fire districts.
