Warrenville Mayor David Brummel, along with 20 other DuPage County mayors and managers, met on April 6 with Gov. Bruce Rauner.

During the meeting, Rauner presented his 90-day turnaround agenda for the state. Rauner was specifically looking for local support from the mayors for agenda initiatives.

The mayors expressed strong opposition and grave concern about losing 50 percent of the Local Government Distributive Fund revenue. The revenue is used to provide essential services to residents.

The mayors argued that local revenue sources must be maintained.

Brummel asked Rauner a number of questions during the meeting.

“It was a great opportunity for me to represent Warrenville’s interests to the governor of our state," Brummel said. "He has a tough job ahead of him, but it’s my job, as mayor of Warrenville, to ensure that our citizens’ services are maintained and interests protected."

The meeting, held at the DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference offices in Oakbrook, was part of Rauner’s outreach to local leaders.
