Glenbard East names Bagdasarian as new principal
Former Glenbard East High School Assistant Principal for Instruction Shahe Bagdasarian was recently named the school's new principal.
The Glenbard District 87 Board of Education approved Bagdasarian's appointment on Monday. He will officially begin his duties as principal on July 1.
“I am honored and humbled to have been named the next principal of Glenbard East High School, a school that is blessed to have exceptional faculty, outstanding students and a supportive community,” Bagdasarian said.
Bagdasarian said he will continue to maintain the school's strong academic reputation and its participation in Advanced Placement testing.
Bagdasarian also said he plans to strengthen the school's summer school program.
District Superintendent David Larson said Bagdasarian is well qualified to assume the principal's role at the high school.
"Mr. Bagdasarian has earned respect and admiration as a leader from the faculty, staff and students," Larson said. "Such strong internal support is a reflection of his leadership skills and knowledge. His experience as a dean, assistant principal for student services and assistant principal for instruction give him a broad perspective and ability to address a variety of needs."
A reception will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 24 in the library at Glenbard East, allowing the community the chance to meet Bagdasarian.Glenbard East High School is at 1014 S. Main St., Lombard.
