Officer Luis Huesca Shot and Killed in Chicago; Funeral Arrangements Announced

Chicago Police Officer Luis Huesca was shot and killed as he returned home from his shift on April 21, 2024. Officer Huesca died in the line of duty protecting the City and people of Chicago.

"I am praying for the wonderful men and women who serve and sacrifice for their neighbors and communities safety – It simply shouldn’t be like this," expressed an individual in response to the tragic loss.

The funeral arrangements for Officer Huesca have been announced. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday from 1 p.m. through 8 p.m. at Blake Lamb Funeral Home in Oak Lawn. A funeral mass will be held on Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Rita of Cascia Catholic Church on Western Avenue in Chicago.

For those unable to attend the funeral, the suggestion was made to "thank the next police officer you see in his name."

State Representative Amy Grant, currently serving her 3rd term as State Representative in the General Assembly, shared details about the 47th district, which includes several communities in DuPage County.

The community mourns the loss of Officer Luis Huesca and stands in solidarity with his family and colleagues during this difficult time.
