Q4 2020 Recap: 2 parolees from DuPage County convicted of homicide set for release
There were two offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in DuPage County during the fourth quarter of 2020, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.
The data shows that both of the released offenders among the parolees were men. The median age of the parolees sentenced for homicide was 33. The younger parolee was a 31-year-old man sentenced in 2010, and the oldest was a 35-year-old man sentenced in 2012.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Darryl Harris. He was convicted in 2010 when he was 20 years old. He is now 31.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
