Millikin University freshman Mateo Casillas has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week. Casillas, who competes in the 197-pound weight class, maintained his undefeated record after two dual matches at Wheaton last Saturday.

Casillas, from Mahomet, Illinois, won both of his matches to improve to a 13–0 overall record for the season. He contributed to Millikin’s continued unbeaten streak as the team advanced to a 9–0 overall record and remained perfect at 4–0 in CCIW competition.

In his first match of the day, Casillas secured a 6–4 decision over Gavin Graham from Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), who was an NCAA qualifier last year. He followed this with a technical fall victory, defeating Sean King from Wheaton by a score of 23–8. Millikin achieved team wins against MSOE (32–8) and Wheaton (42–3).

This is Casillas’ second time receiving the CCIW weekly award this season; he was previously recognized on November 11.
