Benedictine University Athletic Department issued the following announcement on Dec.18

The Benedictine University men's basketball team returned home for the first time in two weeks, leading wire-to-wire in a win over Concordia Chicago.

FINAL SCORE
Benedictine 71, Concordia Chicago 60

THE DETAILS
• Concordia Chicago turned the ball over on the first two possessions of the game leading to baskets from Nick Kosich and Trevor Montiel as Benedictine built a 4-0 lead
• Montiel scored six straight points in the first half
• Marvin Agwomoh opened an 11-0 run with a layup as Benedictine surged to a 19-5 edge with 12:39 left in the half on a three from Kosich
• Cade Ellingson connected on a jumper to begin a big performance as Benedictine led by 17 in the first half on three occasions
• Concordia Chicago did not reach double figures until the 8:10 marker of the half
• Benedictine took a 38-24 lead into the half
• The visitors scored the first five points of the second half to pull within nine at 38-29 but Benedictine responded with four straight on buckets from Montiel and Andrew Ambrosio
• Benedictine led by 15 twice before three missed shots and a turnover helped Concordia Chicago draw within 54-47 with 7:23 left
• Jeff Kratz knocked down a three to open an 8-0 run as Benedictine was able to again extend the lead to 15 points
• Montiel tallied back-to-back baskets before a three from Kosich handed Benedictine their largest lead of the game at 71-52 with 2:41 remaining
• Benedictine did not score again but held on for the decision
• Benedictine did not trail in the contest

STAT LEADERS
• Benedictine shot 44 percent in the contest while holding a 41-34 advantage on the glass
• Benedictine took advantage of 19 turnovers, creating 22 points
• Montiel led all scorers with 21 points, one of three in double figures, adding seven rebounds
• Kosich tallied 16 points to go with 11 rebounds for his second double-double of the year
• Ellingson came off the bench to score 13
