Jan.-June 2019 Recap: Parolees in Aurora convicted of homicide

There were six offenders convicted of homicide released on parole in Aurora during the first half of 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows that five men and one woman were among the parolees. Of the parolees sentenced for homicide, one is a veteran, and the median age is 43. The youngest parolee was a 33-year-old man sentenced in 2012, and the oldest was a 55-year-old woman sentenced in 2017.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Cedric Grissett. He was convicted of homicide in 1995 when he was 20 years old. He is now 44.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
