Emily Belcik named CCIW women’s swimming student-athlete of the week
Emily Belcik, a sophomore at Carthage College, has been named the Women’s Swimming Student-Athlete of the Week by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW). The announcement was made on Tuesday afternoon.
Belcik, who is from Chicago, achieved top performances during the Calvin Quad Invitational. She recorded season-best times in both the 100 freestyle (53.87 seconds) and 200 freestyle (1:59.46), which are currently the fastest times in the CCIW for this season. In addition to these results, she posted a time of 25.00 seconds in the 50 freestyle, ranking her second in the conference for that event. Belcik also contributed a relay split of 24.63 seconds in the 200 freestyle relay and finished with a time of 1:02.05 in the 100 butterfly.
The CCIW also recognized other student-athletes recently: Tess Boyer from Wheaton and Kendle Mihm from Augustana were previous recipients of the weekly swimming honor, while Mae Norman and Kendall Leistico from Carthage were honored for diving.
