Elmhurst wrestler Rhenzo Augusto named CCIW student-athlete of the week
Rhenzo Augusto has been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men’s Wrestling Student-Athlete of the Week. This recognition comes after his performance in the 157-pound bracket at the 61st Annual North Central Invitational held last Saturday in Naperville.
Augusto, a sophomore from Lake Barrington, Illinois, finished the tournament with a perfect 5-0 record. He began by pinning Daniel Ward from North Central in 3:37 and then secured a technical fall with a score of 19-4 against Dominick Paul of Wabash. In the quarterfinals, Augusto won a close match, 5-3, over Aden Byal from Wisconsin-Whitewater. He continued his success in the semifinals with an 8-5 win against Cole Dummer of Augsburg. Augusto concluded the event by defeating Karsen Otis, who is ranked fourth nationally and also from Augsburg, with a 4-2 decision in the championship round.
