Elmhurst’s Kristin Bukata earns second CCIW weekly basketball honor after strong performances
Elmhurst University junior guard Kristin Bukata has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Women’s Basketball Student-Athlete of the Week. The announcement was made Monday after Bukata helped lead the Bluejays to two wins last week, averaging 17 points, 8.5 assists, and 6.5 rebounds per game.
Bukata recorded double-doubles in both games during the week. On Wednesday against Adrian, she scored 18 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a 60-54 victory. She also shot 7-for-11 from the field, contributed seven assists, and played for 39 minutes. In Saturday's game at Saint Mary’s (Ind.), Bukata finished with 16 points and ten assists in a 74–55 win on the road, making five of six shots from the field and six of seven free throws.
Over the course of both games, Bukata shot over seventy percent from the floor and added four steals along with one block on defense.
This is her second CCIW Student-Athlete of the Week honor this season; she previously earned it on November 24. Other recipients for this award during the current season include Biz Daly (North Central), Nikkel Johnson (Millikin), Natalie Gricius (Carroll), Anna Kleszynski (Elmhurst), and Grace Cord (Carthage).
