DuPage County officials report 1,719 coronavirus deaths, with 222,726 confirmed cases
There have been 222,726 confirmed coronavirus cases in DuPage County as of May 10, with 1,719 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).
Cook County (592,909 cases) and Chicago (591,703 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Cook County's death toll from the virus stands at 6,988, while Chicago recorded 7,384 deaths, according to the IDPH.
Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 0, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was under 20, with 717,881 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.
Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 1,478,918 were male and 1,664,290 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 18,411, while female deaths stood at 15,273.
Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 21,185 whites, 6,205 African-Americans, 4,678 Hispanics, 1,038 Asians, and 578 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
