DuPage County officials report 1,441 coronavirus deaths, with 137,174 confirmed cases
There have been 137,174 confirmed coronavirus cases in DuPage County as of Dec. 27, with 1,441 deaths linked to the virus, according to data from the state Department of Public Health (IDPH).
Chicago (401,586 cases) and Cook County (387,746 cases) posted the highest numbers statewide. Chicago's death toll from the virus stands at 6,202, while Cook County recorded 5,679 deaths, according to the IDPH.
Illinois residents who have been tested for COVID-19 now number 43,914,913, the department reported. And the age group with the most confirmed cases was under 20, with 417,634 people in the age group testing positive for the virus.
Among all those testing positive in Illinois, 977,846 were male and 1,072,213 were female, the IDPH said. Male deaths linked to coronavirus numbered 15,016, while female deaths stood at 12,572.
Broken down according to race, the fatalities consisted of 17,148 whites, 5,019 African-Americans, 4,079 Hispanics, 899 Asians, and 443 belonging to other races or who did not provide their ethnicity before they died.
