Community Consolidated School District 93 students suspended 71 times in a single school year

Community Consolidated School District 93 reported 71 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 71 students during the year. That equates to 1.9 percent of the 3,834 students enrolled.

Of the 59 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 33 incidents. There were 24 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 52 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 12 out-of-school suspensions, all were given to boys, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.
