Carroll takes early lead in CCIW women's bowling standings after perfect opening weekend
Carroll University leads the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) women’s bowling standings after the first regular-season event, held at Sunset Bowl Entertainment Center in Waukesha, Wisconsin. The team finished with a 6-0 record over two days of competition.
During Saturday’s traditional format matches, Carroll secured victories against Augustana, Carthage, and Elmhurst, ending the day with a leading pinfall of 3,544. Marian University also had a strong showing on Saturday with three wins and a total pinfall of 3,445.
On Sunday, Carroll continued its undefeated streak in Baker matches by defeating Aurora, Illinois Wesleyan, and Marian. The Pioneers closed out the weekend with a league-high total pinfall of 6,219.
Marian University finished second overall with a 5-1 record and 6,032 pins. Augustana placed third at 4-2 with a pinfall of 5,725. Aurora, Elmhurst, and Carthage each ended with identical records of 2-4. Illinois Wesleyan finished seventh after losing all six matches and recording a total pinfall of 2,874.
The CCIW round-robin schedule will continue at its next regular-season event hosted by Aurora on February 28 and March 1. The top four teams from the final standings will move on to compete in the double-elimination portion at the CCIW Championship scheduled for March 21-22 at Highland Park Bowl in Moline, Illinois.
