Carroll and Illinois Wesleyan maintain national rankings in latest WBCA women’s basketball poll
Carroll University and Illinois Wesleyan University have maintained their spots in the latest Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) national poll, according to an announcement from the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) on Tuesday.
Carroll, with a record of 8-3, remains ranked at No. 21 with 47 points. Illinois Wesleyan follows closely at No. 22 with 40 points and a 7-3 record. This keeps two CCIW teams among the nationally ranked programs as they head into the holiday break.
The Carroll Pioneers concluded their non-conference schedule at the Daytona Beach Shootout in Florida, finishing with one win and one loss. They secured a 64-48 victory over WPI last Friday but fell to Washington & Lee, who is ranked eighth nationally, by a score of 76-66 two days later.
Illinois Wesleyan finished its non-conference slate after facing several tough opponents. The Titans most recently lost to Chicago, which is ranked 21st, by a score of 73-54 last Tuesday.
Looking ahead, Carroll and Illinois Wesleyan will meet for a conference matchup in Bloomington on Saturday, January 3rd at the Shirk Center. The game is set to begin at 2 p.m.
