In 2025, Bensenville counted 4 licensed child care facilities, according to the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services.

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker called the freeze “wrong and cruel” and stated the state could challenge the hold, highlighting existing anti-fraud measures.

The Illinois administration reports the freeze could impact about 100,000 families and over 152,000 children who participate in the state’s Child Care Assistance Program, as well as funding for thousands of care providers and 275 human service organizations.
