Augustana's Shapley and Carthage's Norman receive CCIW women's swimming and diving honors
Augustana College freshman Savannah Shapley and Carthage College sophomore Mae Norman have been named the Women’s Swimming & Diving Student-Athletes of the Week by the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW). The announcement was made on Wednesday following their performances in dual meet competition last Saturday.
Shapley competed at the Augustana Triangular, which marked her team's first meet after the holiday break. She won two individual events and set a new pool record. In the 200-yard butterfly, Shapley posted a pool-record and season-best time of 2:19.53. She also finished first in the 200-yard individual medley with a season-best time of 2:21.92. These results contributed to Augustana's victories over Monmouth (163-81) and Coe (182-92), bringing their dual meet record to 5-2 this season.
Norman, who is from Clarkston, Michigan, achieved personal-best scores for Carthage during a meet in Kenosha. She scored 152.65 on the 1-meter diving board and 148.15 on the 3-meter board. Her performance helped Carthage secure a 181-117 win against Wisconsin-Oshkosh.
The CCIW also listed previous weekly honorees for both swimming and diving for the current season, highlighting student-athletes from Augustana, Wheaton, and Carthage.
