Addison FPD responds to 162 fires in 2017
Addison Fire Protection District responded to 544 calls in 2017 - 3.4 percent more than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.
The calls in Addison included 162 fires - 79 structure fires, 41 vehicle fires and 42 other fires. The fire department also responded to seven calls for ruptures, explosions or overheating.
In all, the department saw $969,532 in fire loss - or about $5,985 per fire.
The department also received 375 false calls, including 10 malicious calls and 365 other false calls.
The calls resulted in one civilian fire-related injury. Additionally, one fire service member was injured in fire-related incidents.
The Addison Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $16,971,127 in 2017.
The Addison Firefighters Pension Fund, which has 49 active employees and 57 retired or inactive employees, was $3,180,811 in debt as of May 2016, according to the fund's mandated filings with the Illinois Department of Insurance. That amounts to $25,245 for every fire in 2016.
