2019 Recap: Parolees in Lombard convicted of crimes involving weapons

There were four offenders convicted of crimes involving weapons released on parole in Lombard during 2019, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by the DuPage Policy Journal.

The data shows that four men were among the parolees. The median age of the parolees sentenced for crimes involving weapons was 27. The youngest parolee was a 20-year-old man sentenced in 2018, and the oldest was a 40-year-old man sentenced in 2013.

The offender who was incarcerated the longest was Antwon Powell. He was convicted of a crime involving one or more weapons in 2013 when he was 33 years old. He is now 40.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
