Wheaton swimmers sweep CCIW weekly awards after strong invitational showing
Wheaton College athletes Tess Boyer and Lara Stamp have been recognized as the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) Student-Athletes of the Week for women’s swimming and diving, following their performances at the 44th annual Wheaton Invitational.
Boyer, a junior swimmer, set several records during the event. She won the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:03.72, which established new school, pool, and CCIW records. This result is currently ranked as the ninth-fastest in NCAA Division III this season. Boyer also won the 400-yard individual medley in 4:23.23, breaking her own school record and setting new CCIW and meet records. Her time in this event is an NCAA provisional qualifying mark that ranks third nationally in Division III.
In addition to these wins, Boyer took first place in the 200-yard butterfly after leading both preliminaries and finals. She contributed to Wheaton’s victories in three relay events: the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:38.14), 400-yard medley relay (3:58.62), and 400-yard freestyle relay (3:34.39).
On the diving side, sophomore Lara Stamp swept both events at her season opener. She achieved a personal best score of 341.10 on the 3-meter board (11 dives), surpassing her previous high by 40 points, and secured first place on the 1-meter board with a score of 313.90.
The combined efforts of Boyer and Stamp helped Wheaton secure second place among seven teams at the invitational.
The list of weekly CCIW women’s swimming honorees for this season includes multiple recognitions for Boyer as well as other athletes from Wheaton, Carthage, and Augustana colleges.
