Wheaton police report arrests and thefts for week of June 1 to June 7

The Wheaton Police Department released its weekly arrest and crime report on June 25, detailing incidents from June 1 through June 7.

According to the report, Marco Inserro, age 21 of Wheaton, was arrested at Butterfield Road and West Loop Road on June 7 at 10:24 p.m. Inserro faces charges of driving under the influence and transportation of open alcohol by a driver. He was released with a notice to appear shortly after midnight on June 8.

Ambur A. Johnson, age 35 of Carol Stream, was arrested on a warrant at 2191 Roosevelt Road on June 5 at approximately 4:05 p.m. Johnson was taken to DuPage County Sheriff's Office custody less than an hour later. Lucas C. Orwig, age 23 of Wheaton, was arrested for domestic battery and obstructing an officer at Sussex Lane late in the evening on June 2. Antonio J. Robinson, age 36 of Montgomery, faced multiple charges including warrant service, driving while license suspended, and operating an uninsured motor vehicle following his arrest early in the morning on Roosevelt Road near Washington Street.

The weekly crime summary also lists several thefts reported during this period. These include stolen headphones from a locker room at VASA Fitness; trading cards valued over $10,000 missing in transit; airline tickets purchased using stolen credit card information; a wallet taken from a purse inside Whole Foods; alcohol shoplifted from a convenience store; a bicycle stolen from garage storage; and merchandise removed from delivered packages.

The department reminds residents that all individuals named are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court: "A complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. Constitutionally, a defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt." The public is encouraged to submit anonymous tips regarding these or other crimes through programs offered by the DuPage County Sheriff's Office.

The police note that reports may be updated as investigations continue: "Reports contain complete and accurate information; however, initial reports are subject to change and/or are reclassified as more facts are gathered and cases are investigated." The mapping system used does not reflect official crime index totals as reported annually.
