Wheaton Police report arrests and crime incidents for late June to early July 2026

The Wheaton Police Department released its weekly arrest and crime report for the period of June 29 through July 5, according to a Jul. 23 statement.

Arrests during this period included Lydia R. Schulze, age 18 of Winfield, who was charged with driving under the influence on July 5 at Dorchester Avenue and Roosevelt Road. Nathan M. Martinson, age 37 of Wheaton, was arrested for domestic battery at his residence on West Childs Street in the early morning hours of July 4. Nicholas M. Makropoulos, age 33 of Naperville, faced charges including trespass to residence and criminal damage to property following an incident on South Lorraine Road on July 3.

Other arrests included Amir A. Wooten, age 22 of Wheaton, charged with battery at his home on South Prospect Street on July 1; and Paul R. Ortiz, age 74 of Wheaton, who was taken into custody for a warrant at his North West Street address on June 30.

The department also detailed several reported crimes during this timeframe: burglary to motor vehicles occurred overnight between June 27 and June 28 in the Williston Street area; thefts were reported from Community Drive (license plate), Rice Community Pool (electric scooter), and Leabrook Lane (bicycle); criminal damage to vehicles was documented along Manchester Road; while vandalism involving spray paint and wire damage affected a traffic camera near Front Street and Ellis Avenue.

Residents are encouraged by police to use Anonymous Crime Tips (ACT) if they have information about these or other crimes. The program allows individuals to submit tips via text or email without revealing their identity.

A notice reminds the public that all complaints contain only charges—not proof—and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
