Wheaton announces April 22 meeting with in-person and virtual attendance options
The City of Wheaton announced on April 15 that its upcoming meeting will be held on April 22 at 7 p.m. in the Gamon Room at Wheaton City Hall, with both in-person and virtual attendance options available. The city said the meeting will also be live streamed to allow broader public participation.
This announcement is important for residents who want to stay informed about city decisions and participate in local governance. The hybrid format aims to make it easier for more people to attend and contribute.
Residents can join the meeting by computer or smartphone through a provided Zoom link, where they must register using their email address. After registering, participants will receive a confirmation email containing access details. All attendees will be automatically muted but can request to speak by using the “Raise Hand” feature; when called upon, they will be asked to unmute themselves and should announce their name and address before commenting.
Those wishing to join by phone can do so by dialing a specified number with the provided webinar ID and passcode. Phone participants are also automatically muted but may raise their hand by pressing *9, then unmute themselves with *6 when prompted.
The agenda includes approval of previous minutes, public comment, a chair report highlighting recent City Council actions such as appointing new members Nate Swartz and Jeff Gissing as well as reappointing Rita Nathanson and Bill Nieman, ongoing business including approval of a simplified e-bike ordinance, updates on the "Halfway There" History Ride celebrating America250, preparations for Run for the Animals Bike Valet scheduled for June 6, and adjournment. No new business is listed for this session.
The next meeting is scheduled for May 20.
