CCIW names men’s soccer all-conference team; Wheaton earns multiple honors

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced its 2025 Men’s Soccer All-Conference Team. Wheaton College, which secured the league championship, led with five student-athletes recognized, including four First Team selections.

North Central’s Joseph Sargent, a freshman forward from Evanston, Illinois, was named both CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year and CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year. Sargent topped all conference players during league play with 14 points, seven goals, and 17 shots on goal. He scored in 10 matches this season and had multi-goal games against Carroll and Augustana.

Wheaton senior Wes Seneff earned CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year honors after helping his team achieve a 7-0-1 record in conference play and win the league title for a second straight year. Wheaton recorded a goals-against average of 0.63 over eight league matches. Seneff also contributed assists against Elmhurst and North Central.

Jack Krahel from Wheaton was voted CCIW Goalkeeper of the Year. The graduate student led the conference with a goals-against average of 0.62, an .886 save percentage, and five shutouts. Krahel played every minute for Wheaton in CCIW competition this season, allowing only five goals and making 39 saves.

The Joe Bean Coaching Staff of the Year award went to Wheaton College under head coach Steve McCrath. This marks Wheaton’s second consecutive outright league championship since its four-year run from 2012 to 2015. McCrath is in his fourth season as head coach and has been selected by peers as Coach of the Year for three consecutive seasons.

The All-CCIW First Team includes Javi Landin (Augustana), Matthew Meke (Carroll), Ryder Coleman (Illinois Wesleyan), Bryce Davis (Millikin), Aleks Duncevic (North Central), Joseph Sargent (North Central), Bastian Eikeland (North Park), Hugo Neborg (North Park), Christian Vaaland (North Park), Jack Krahel (Wheaton), Craig Rusin (Wheaton), Wes Seneff (Wheaton), and Luke Vander Kolk (Wheaton).

Second Team honorees feature Nico Hinten, Iskander Sharipov, Marti Solanelles (all Carroll); Jordan Mok (Carthage); Klaus Gartner (Elmhurst); Sam Kedzior, Jerry Smazil (both Illinois Wesleyan); Landon Welch (Millikin); Marco Costabile, Griffin French, Joris Rijnja (all North Central); Mathias Soerum (North Park); Garrett Belcher (Wheaton).

Recipients of the CCIW RESPECT Award include William Gabrielsson (Augustana), William Harris (Carroll), Emmitt Hansen (Carthage), Michail Tzankov (Elmhurst), Brayden Gemaehlich (Illinois Wesleyan), Amari Terrell (Millikin), Gege Nikiema (North Central), Vidar Rydell (North Park) and Sam Grotelueschen(Wheaton).

"Wheaton posted a 0.63 goals-against average in eight league contests," according to information provided by the conference.

"McCrath, now in his fourth season with the Thunder, was also voted the league’s top coach by his peers in each of the previous two seasons," noted CCIW officials.
