State Senator Seth Lewis (R-Bartlett) and State Representative Amy Grant (R-Wheaton) are organizing a free document shredding and food drive event for local residents. The event will take place on Saturday, October 25, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Wheaton Park District’s Rice Pool Waterpark Lot, located at 1777 South Blanchard Street in Wheaton. The shred truck will remain on-site until noon or until it reaches capacity.

Community members are encouraged to bring old bank records, receipts, and other sensitive documents for secure disposal. Non-perishable food items and toiletries will also be collected at the event and donated to the Milton Township Food Pantry.

Participants are asked to follow traffic signs and stay in their vehicles while shred truck staff unload the items. Parking will be available for those who want to watch their documents being shredded. Acceptable items include paper folders, staples, and paper clips, but large binder clips, plastic file folders, and old floppy discs are not permitted. Electronics will not be accepted.

“It’s a pleasure to partner with Representative Grant to offer this free service for the residents we serve,” said Lewis. “I’m sure we all have sensitive documents that are in need of safe, secure disposal, and this event provides the perfect avenue for the destruction of documents.”

For more information about the event, constituents can contact Senator Lewis’ office at (630) 349-0645 or email Abby at amccarthy@sgop.ilga.gov.

Lewis was elected as a Republican to the Illinois State Senate in 2023, representing the state’s 24th Senate District. He succeeded former state senator Suzy Glowiak.
