Strong individual performances in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) football games have led to the announcement of this week’s Student-Athletes of the Week.
Thomas Skokna from North Central was recognized for his offensive performance after catching five touchdown passes in a 59-10 win over Millikin. This achievement set a program record and is also the highest number of touchdown receptions in Division III football this season. Skokna finished with eight receptions, tied a program record for points scored in a single game (30), and accumulated 206 receiving yards, which ranks fifth in North Central’s single-game history.
On defense, Brady Willmer of WashU contributed significantly to his team’s 31-23 overtime victory at Carthage. Willmer recorded 2.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and an interception. His interception in the fourth quarter was instrumental in setting up a scoring drive that helped WashU regain the lead.
Special teams honors were shared by Matthew Swink of Carroll and Aidan Ellison of North Central. Swink made a 50-yard field goal during Carroll’s 24-10 win over North Park, marking the sixth-longest successful field goal in Division III this season. He was also perfect on three point-after attempts.
Ellison earned his second CCIW weekly honor of the year following North Central’s win over Millikin. He also converted a 50-yard field goal, which is the fourth-longest in North Central College history, and was perfect on four extra-point attempts. Both Swink and Ellison are among only eleven Division III players to make field goals of at least 50 yards this season.
The CCIW continues to recognize outstanding performances each week across offensive, defensive, and special teams categories.
