F. BUSINESS OF THE MEETING

1. Discussion of Aesthetic Enhancement Program

Chair Johnson mentioned, for commissioners who were not in attendance at the September 8 Community Development Committee of the Whole meeting, that TAC’s recommendation to commission the mosaic mural for the west wall of the trailhead building had been approved by the Committee. Next steps include Contract negotiations between the artists and the City and a vote by the Council to approve the project. Staff Liaison Aguilar reported that he has reached out to City Attorney Brooke Lenneman and to past TAC Staff Liaison Kavina for guidance in the process.

The artists have not yet been contacted by Capital Maintenance Superintendent Jamie Clark to discuss the intended process for installation, but they are anticipated to meet in the coming weeks.

2. Discussion of Annual Brochure and Postcard

TAC no longer produces an annual brochure, since the information now has a dedicated spot on the City’s website. Chair Johnson spoke with Communications Coordinator Paula Krapf this week, who reported she was currently updating the online information.

3. Discussion on the Community Resource Fair at the Library

TAC Commissioners reviewed the printed materials designed for the TAC table at the Community Resource Fair, which will take place at the Library on Saturday, September 13. The commissioners hope to increase community awareness of TAC’s activities/ purpose, with the goal of interesting more citizens in organizing new Hotel Tax Grantfunded events that will continue to engage visitors/residents. Staff Liaison Aguilar provided some items from the City for display and distribution.

4. Approval of TAC 2026 Meeting Schedule

After discussion of the proposed meeting calendar for TAC’s 2026 Meetings, Commissioner Osborn made a motion to accept the proposed calendar as written.

Commissioner Kleiber seconded the motion, and the motion carried via voice vote.

G. OLD BUSINESS

Chair Johnson reminded TAC Commissioners that the next meeting date has been changed to Wednesday, October 8, 2025. Staff Liaison Aguilar will notify the public of the date change.

At the September Meeting, Community and Economic Development Director Amy Emery was in attendance to ask TAC to name the new Pop-Up Market. Discussion continued this evening, and a name was chosen. Director Emery would like the name to be revealed at the market’s soft opening on November 1. Staff Liaison Aguilar will contact Director Emery to discuss TAC’s name choice.

Also at the September meeting, Alderman Barry had asked if it might be convenient for the commissioners to begin TAC meetings at an earlier time. After discussion, the commissioners agreed to keep the meeting time at 7:00PM moving forward.

H. COMMISSIONER COMMENTS/REPORTS

FY27 Hotel Tax Grant Applications were distributed to TAC Commissioners to review before the October meeting. Commissioner Dina suggested TAC congratulate grant award winners in our City’s monthly newsletter, so that residents are more aware of the Hotel Tax Grant Program. Staff Liaison Aguilar will add this to TAC’s February Agenda. Chair Johnson reported that she had recently spent the day in Roselle touring their village’s public artwork, which included a large mural, and some hands-on art projects for residents.

I. ADJOURN

A motion was made to adjourn by Chair Johnson. Commissioner Osborn seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously by voice vote. The meeting was adjourned at 8:12PM.
