North Central College continues to hold the top position in national Division III football rankings. The Cardinals, who remain unbeaten this season, are ranked number one in both the D3football.com poll released on Sunday and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) rankings published on Monday.
The team’s strong performance was highlighted by a 35-0 victory over Wheaton College last Saturday in the Battle For the Little Brass Bell. Following this loss, Wheaton dropped to 19th place in the D3football.com poll and 24th in the AFCA coaches’ rankings.
North Central retained all first-place votes in the AFCA poll and secured 23 out of 25 first-place votes from D3football.com, with no change in point totals compared to last week.
Washington University (WashU), which won a close game against Illinois Wesleyan with a score of 42-40 last Saturday, received nine points in the coaches’ poll. This places WashU with the eleventh-highest total among teams that did not make it into the top rankings.
