State Senator Seth Lewis is inviting families in the 24th Senate District to participate in a Veterans Day display at the Illinois Capitol Rotunda. The event, called “Honoring All Who Served,” will feature photos and stories of Illinois veterans from October 28 through November 13.

Lewis emphasized the importance of recognizing those who have served in the military. “The ‘Honoring All Who Served’ display is a powerful tribute to the brave men and women who defended our country and everything it stands for,” said Lewis. “When you share your veteran’s photo and story, you ensure their sacrifice is seen, remembered, and appreciated by thousands of visitors to the State Capitol. This project ensures the legacies of our loved ones who have served endure.”

Families are asked to submit a photo and a short written account—up to 250 words—about their veteran relative. Submissions should include the veteran’s name, military branch, and conflict served. Military photographs are encouraged but not required.

Entries can be emailed to veteransday@sgop.ilga.gov by November 8, 2024 or mailed to Veterans Day Wall, 110 D Statehouse, Springfield, IL 62706. For additional information, families may call (217) 782-1154.

“Every story added to this display is a lesson in courage for the next generation,” Lewis added. “Please help us honor our loved ones’ service at our State Capitol.”

Lewis was elected as a Republican senator representing Illinois' 24th Senate District in 2023, succeeding Suzy Glowiak. More information about his background can be found at https://www.ilga.gov/senate/Senator.asp?GA=103&MemberID=3207.
