Senior athletes Ben Butler and Jereme Ombogo from North Park University have been named to the D3football.com National Team of the Week following their performances in the season-opening win over Ripon. This is the first time in North Park Football's history that more than one player has received this national recognition in the same week.
Ombogo accumulated 198 receiving yards on six catches, with three of those resulting in touchdowns. One touchdown came from a 98-yard play. He also contributed with a 30-yard punt return and rushed for 20 yards on two carries.
Butler, who was named a preseason All-American safety, recorded four tackles—three of them solo—including a tackle for loss and a fumble recovery. He also had an interception returned for 56 yards and made two pass breakups.
The Vikings are currently 1-0 and will have a bye week before facing Millikin University on September 20 at Frank M. Lindsay Field, with kickoff scheduled for 6:00 PM CT.
