12 CCIW athletes named to IMLCA All-Region 5 team

Twelve men's lacrosse athletes from the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) were selected for the Intercollegiate Men’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IMLCA) All-Region 5 Team. The announcement was made last Monday, June 16.

Eli Spence and Tony Vazquez of Elmhurst, along with Gage Black of Illinois Wesleyan, received First Team honors. Eli Spence was recognized as the CCIW Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year and Tony Vazquez as the CCIW Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year.

Illinois Wesleyan led with six selections, followed by Elmhurst with four, and Carthage with two.

The IMLCA All-Region 5 First Team included:

- Attack: Eli Spence, Elmhurst

- Midfield: Gage Black, Illinois Wesleyan

- Face-Off: Tony Vazquez, Elmhurst

Second Team selections were:

- Midfield: Ben Krok, Carthage

- Defense: Matt Koshiol, Elmhurst

- Defense: Billy McHugh, Illinois Wesleyan

Honorable Mentions went to:

- Attack: Timothy McHugh, Illinois Wesleyan

- Midfield: Pete Grebe, Elmhurst

- Defense: Sam Wallace, Carthage

- Long Stick Midfield: Sam Skelton, Illinois Wesleyan

- Short Stick Defensive Midfield: Karsten Nordlie, Illinois Wesleyan

- Goalkeeper: Colin Tervo, Illinois Wesleyan
