North Central College's baseball team faced a challenging start in the NCAA Tournament Regional, losing to Case Western Reserve University 19-9 at Nobby's Ballpark in Cleveland. The Cardinals initially led 2-0 after RBI contributions from Owen Ziaja and Justin Lang. However, Case Western Reserve responded with eight runs in the third inning, taking advantage of five hits and two errors by North Central.

Despite efforts to close the gap with RBIs from Austin Wienke and Caleb Coberley, who had three RBIs on the day, the Spartans extended their lead with multiple scoring innings. Ayush Shetty secured the win for Case Western Reserve, allowing five runs over 4.2 innings.

Chris Rogers took the loss for North Central, giving up six runs in two innings. Ryan Gerdes provided some relief with scoreless pitching later in the game. The Cardinals will now face an elimination game against either Centre University or Arcadia University.

"The Cardinals will face the loser of Centre University and Arcadia University Saturday at 8:30 a.m. (ET) inside Nobby's Ballpark," stated tournament officials.
