Illinois Wesleyan enters the 40-team tournament as one of 27 automatic qualifiers with a record of 14-2. They secured their spot with a win over Elmhurst in the CCIW Tournament final at Tucci Stadium on May 3. The Titans have made multiple appearances in the national tournament over recent years, holding a current record of five wins and six losses.
SUNY Cortland qualified for the postseason after defeating SUNY Oneonta in the SUNYAC Championship on May 3. With an overall record of 17-2, this marks only their second encounter with Illinois Wesleyan. The previous match took place on March 13, 2024, where Cortland emerged victorious with a score of 12-9.
The winner from this matchup will progress to face either York or the victor between Farmingdale State and Trinity (Conn.) in Sunday's third round at York College.
