Mariellyn Vivo Conference Coordinator | College Conference Of Wisconsin And Illinois

The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) announced its annual All-Conference Baseball Teams on Tuesday. Carthage College achieved notable recognition, with senior shortstop Collin Callahan and graduate left-hander Ryan Scanlon receiving the CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year and CCIW Pitcher of the Year awards, respectively.

Collin Callahan was a standout player for Carthage, participating in all 20 games. He maintained a .417 batting average in league play, hit five home runs, and drove in 24 runs. His performance also included a .505 on-base percentage and a .690 slugging percentage. Callahan led the league in several categories including batting average, on-base percentage, and slugging percentage.

Ryan Scanlon from Gurnee, Illinois pitched 36.2 innings across various appearances with five starts. He recorded a 2.21 earned-run average (ERA), achieving a 4-0 record within the conference and accumulating 42 strikeouts while limiting opponents to a .221 batting average.

Millikin's freshman pitcher Caleb Akins was named CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year after posting a 2.34 ERA over six starts and 34.2 innings pitched. Akins struck out 36 batters while maintaining an opposing batting average of .168.

Michael Kellar, head coach at Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU), was recognized as CCIW Coach of the Year after leading his team to their first regular-season title since 2013 with a conference record of 16-4.
