The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced its All-Conference Men’s Tennis Team. Ramon Vilarroig Martinez from North Central has been named the CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year. Carthage's Finn Morris, a freshman, received the title of CCIW First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year. Augustana's David DeSimone, in his fourth season, was honored as CCIW Coach of the Year for the first time.
Vilarroig Martinez, hailing from Castellon, Spain, repeats his success as a two-time CCIW Student-Athlete of the Year, having previously won in 2022. In CCIW competition, he remained undefeated with a 6-0 record in both #1 singles and doubles.
Finn Morris excelled in his debut season with a 4-0 singles record and a 6-1 doubles record in collaboration with teammates Luca Okino and Cyriac Cayuela. Carthage has seen such a recognition for the third consecutive year and fifth time since 2017.
Under DeSimone’s guidance, the Vikings achieved a 6-1 conference record and clinched a share of their first league championship since 2021. A notable victory was the 4-3 win against North Central on April 12.
