The College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) has announced its latest selections for Baseball Student-Athletes of the Week, recognizing performances from games played between April 14 and April 20.
Named Hitter of the Week is Carson Gnade, a sophomore from Elmhurst College. Gnade's standout contributions during the week included a 4-for-4 showing that drove in four runs, aiding the Bluejays to a narrow 10-9 victory over North Park. His performance was highlighted by two home runs, a double, and a walk, allowing him to reach base five times in the game. Additionally, Gnade recorded a pinch-hit solo home run in a doubleheader opener in Chicago.
Jackson Nuese, a junior from North Park, was selected as the Pitcher of the Week. Nuese displayed exceptional skill against Elmhurst on Saturday by pitching 7.2 innings and reaching a personal best with eight strikeouts. His efforts contributed to the Vikings’ 3-2 victory, permitting just one hit after throwing 106 pitches before handing the game over to the bullpen in the eighth inning.
The CCIW also listed past honorees for the 2025 season. The previous Hitters of the Week for April included Zander Tubbs from Carthage and John Philip Ferraro from Illinois Wesleyan. The Pitchers of the Week included Nate Burden from Wheaton and Zach DeMarlie from Augustana.
