Loras senior Corey Mayotte and Augustana’s Max Sellers have been recognized once again as the top players in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Men's Volleyball. The league office announced the All-CCIW Teams, with Mayotte retaining his title as the Men's Volleyball Offensive Student-Athlete of the Year. Meanwhile, Sellers received the Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year award for the second consecutive year.
Corey Mayotte's performance was outstanding, leading the conference with 5.31 kills and 5.66 points per set during the 10-match league schedule, along with a .420 hitting percentage. He enters the CCIW Championship semifinal as the national leader in kills and points per set for the season.
Max Sellers also demonstrated exceptional skill, becoming one of only two players in league history to win the Defensive Student-Athlete of the Year award twice. He led with an average of 3.08 digs per set and was the only CCIW libero with over 100 digs.
Carthage's Ryan Morey was acknowledged with the Setter Student-Athlete of the Year award, becoming the first player from Carthage to receive this honor. His contribution of 10.57 assists per set helped lead his team, the Firebirds, to a successful season.
Loras freshman Evan Dziadkowiec earned the First-Year Student-Athlete of the Year award. He was the only freshman to make the All-CCIW First Team and led the CCIW with 11.06 assists per set.
Carthage's head coach, JW Kieckhefer, was named Coach of the Year for the fourth time, guiding the Firebirds to their third outright CCIW championship and maintaining a 20-3 overall record.
Among repeat selections to the All-CCIW First Team were Mayotte, Sellers, and Carthage players Ryan Cholewinski and Owen Otto. Mayotte and Sellers both achieved recognition as four-time All-CCIW selections, joining an elite group of players in league history.
Notable players such as Ben Heise from Carthage and Tyler Donovan from North Central received First Team honors, having been Second Team members in the prior season. Other significant contributors included Ben Schultz from Augustana and Cooper Lundal from North Central, who were named to the Second Team.
The CCIW RESPECT Award recipients this year included Garrett McNelis from Augustana, Jack McDonald from Carthage, and others, acknowledging their sportsmanship and contribution to the conference.
